S-R should back Biviano

The S-R endorsement (Oct. 9) of Shelly O’Quinn over Andrew Biviano in the county commissioner District 2 race is disappointing. You give many of the reasons why Biviano is the one we need at this time: smart-justice reforms, STA support and his understanding of our economic development opportunities. This county is bursting at the seams with opportunity for smart growth and improved quality of life for all its citizens. Andrew understands all this and is ready.

Your endorsement was wrong about the relationship of the Spokane County Democrats with the Kalispel and Spokane Tribes. While we support the STEP project, both tribes are Sustaining Partners of ours offering equal financial support. We don’t agree on every issue with either tribe yet the core values that lead to the policies we fight for are in strong alignment with both tribes.

I find it curious that you don’t have the same level of concern that McMorris Rodgers endorses Trump. If elected, she will work to shape our country in Trumpian ways. This should scare you off. Please reconsider your endorsement; make it for Andrew Biviano.
