Education Notebook: ‘The Curious Savage’ opens at LC

The Lewis and Clark High School drama department’s production of John Patrick’s “The Curious Savage” opens Thursday.

“The Curious Savage” tells the tale of Ethel P. Savage, a kind and carefree woman who gives away her inheritance against the wishes of her greedy stepchildren.

The cast includes Bri Barrick, Eric Boose, Adonis Fernandes, Ethan Goins, Emma Hendricks, Bailey Heppler, Caroline Slater, MJ Smith, Hannah Summers and Claire Woodard.

“The Curious Savage” runs Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. at 521 W. Fourth Ave. Tickets are $10 at the door.

North Central drama presents Shakespeare’s ‘Julius Caesar’

North Central High School’s production of the Shakespeare classic “Julius Caesar” opens Thursday.

There won’t be any togas in this production, as the performers hope to show that the story of good guys versus bad guys can happen any time, any place.

The cast includes Oliver Miller as Brutus, Darcy Levesque as Cassius, River Holbrook as Mark Antony, Jayce Germeaux as Julius Caesar, Brianna Walsh as Portia, Riley VanZee as Calphurnia, Alycia Linton as Casca and David Song as the Soothsayer.

“Julius Caesar” runs Thursday through Saturday in the North Central Performing Arts Theatre, 1600 N. Howard St. Doors open at 7 p.m. and curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6/general admission; $5/senior citizens and North Central students with GSL.

‘Seussical the Musical’

still running at Mead High

The Mead High School theatre and music department’s production of “Seussical the Musical” continues its run Thursday through Saturday.

“Seussical the Musical” follows Horton the Elephant in his search to find the clover carrying the citizens of Whoville and rescue them from extinction. The Cat in the Hat, the Grinch and Sour Kangaroo also make appearances in the musical.

Performances are 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mead High School Performing Arts Theatre, 302 W. Hastings Road. Tickets are $10/adults; $8/students and senior citizens; $6/children 10 and under.

Production of ‘The K of D’ continues at Mt. Spokane High

Mt. Spokane High School’s production of “The K of D” continues its run Thursday-Saturday.

“The K of D” tells the legend of Charlotte McGraw, who discovers that, following the death of her brother, everything she kisses dies. Charlotte and her family attempt to use this skill to get rid of the man who killed her brother.

Performances are at 7 p.m. at 6015 E. Mount Spokane Park Drive, Mead. Tickets are $8/adults; $5/students.

NWC Middle School presents ‘Helga and the Seven Warriors’

Northwest Christian Middle School’s production of Spokane author Ken Boles’ “Helga and the Seven Warriors” opens Friday.

Students will take on the roles of Nordic warriors and will defend themselves from ninja squirrels while helping Prince Thor and his sidekick save the princess.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Northwest Christian Schools’ Upper Campus Chapel, 5104 E. Bernhill Road, Colbert. Tickets are $10 at the door or online at nwcs.org/theater.

SPS students will take part

in Festival of the Arts

Visual and performing arts students from Spokane Public Schools high schools will take part in the Festival of the Arts Monday.

At the end of the day, there will be a free public concert featuring the All-City Wind Ensemble, string orchestra and choir at the INB Performing Arts Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Artwork from students will be on display in the INB lobby during the concert. The theme of this year’s event is “Scenes from Spokane.”

FHS team wins academic award

The Ferris High School girls cross country team has won a state championship award for their academic success. The top 11 students on the team have a 4.0 GPA.
