On Demand: ‘Finding Dory,’ ‘Paddington’ come to home screens

What’s new for home viewing on video-on-demand and Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services.

Pay-Per-View / Video-On-Demand

Finding Dory reunites the aquatic pals of “Finding Nemo” for an animated odyssey across the sea to reunite the memory-challenged Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres) with her long lost parents. Sweet, funny, gorgeous and family friendly (PG). Also on DVD and Blu-ray.

Also new: the action comedy Army Of One with Nicolas Cage (R) and the award-winning French drama My King with Emanuelle Bercot and Vincent Cassel (not rated).

Available same day as select theaters nationwide are the action thrillers The Take Idris Elba and Richard Madden (R) and Life on the Line with John Travolta and Kate Bosworth (R).

Netflix

Paddington (2014), based on the British storybooks of a gentle but disaster-prone talking bear with a taste for marmalade, features whimsical humor and a sweet disposition (PG).

“Sing Street” (2016), from filmmaker John Carney (“Once”), tells an age-old story: boy meets girl, boy starts band to impress girl, music is made (PG-13).

Also new: the Coen brothers comedies O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000, PG-13) and Burn After Reading(2008, R), both with George Clooney, and the award-winning Divines (2016), a female buddy drama from France set in the slums of Paris (not rated, subtitled).

Streaming TV: Lovesick: Season 2 is a British romantic comedy with raunchy humor and a tender heart and well worth catching up with. Also new: the British crime drama Paranoid: Season 1,” the young adult science fiction thriller The 100: Season 3,” and the animated kid show Beat Bugs: Season 2 featuring the music of The Beatles.

Amazon Prime Video

The made-in-Oregon thriller Green Room(2015) features Anton Yelchin in one of his final screen performances and Patrick Stewart as a neo-Nazi leader (R).

The original Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) is a gearhead cult classic with wooden acting and the most impressive car stunts ever put on screen (PG).

Also new: dramaSea of Trees (2016) with Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts (PG-13), buddy comedy Miss You Already (2015) with Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette (PG-13), and offbeat Australian comedy Proof (1991) with Hugo Weaving and young Russell Crowe (R).

Streaming TV: the British mystery Grantchester: Season 2 and the royal family spoof The Royals: Season 2.”

HBO Now

The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016), the third film in the young adult sci-fi series, sends Shailene Woodley and Theo James into the unexplored lands outside their walled city (PG-13).
