French magazine Charlie Hebdo goes after Trump

The French magazine Charlie Hebdo, famous for its provocative cartoons, has a new target for its satire: Donald Trump.

The latest cover of the publication shows a black-suited, grinning Trump holding a woman between her legs and dangling her upside down. “Should we give him the nuclear button?” the caption says.

Trump won no favors with Charlie Hebdo, which specializes in targeting world political and religious leaders, after he suggested in a series of Twitter posts that France’s strict gun laws enabled the 2015 attack on its offices by two Islamic extremists who killed 12 people. The attack was retaliation for publishing caricatures of the prophet Muhammad.

In August, Robert McLiam Wilson, an Irish writer who contributes to Charlie Hebdo, wrote an article entitled “Thank God for Donald Trump” in which he lambasted the Republican. “Imagine how much worse everything would be if he was smart,” he wrote.

He also offered a prediction, writing that the “witless, orange-headed know-nothing is going to lose.”
