Women’s college basketball: No. 15 Washington rolls past Portland; EWU romps at home

Kelsey Plum had 26 points, Natalie Romeo hit seven 3-pointers for 21 points and No. 15 Washington rolled to an 83-53 win over host Portland on Sunday.

Chantel Osahor had 13 points and 17 rebounds for her sixth-straight double-double, a string that included the first triple-double for the Washington (6-1).

The Huskies knocked down four of their 13 3-pointers in the first quarter in opening a 23-8 lead.

After the Pilots (1-5) scored the opening basket, Romeo made a 3 with Heather Corral following with another. Plum had the next four points to complete a 10-0 run. After two Portland free throws, Osahor had five points with a 3-point play and Romeo a 3-pointer in an 8-0 run.

Romeo, a junior transfer from Nebraska, finished one shy of her career high with eight 3-pointers for the Cornhuskers.

Darian Slaga had a career-high 24 points for Portland, which shot 18 percent in the first half and 29.5 for the game.

Eastern Washington 88, Multnomah 30: Delaney Hodgins scored 24 points, extending her streak double-figures scoring streak to 21 games and the Eagles (3-1) defeated the Lions at Cheney 88-30 for their third straight win.

Tisha Phillips added 14 points for EWU, which shot 50 percent, scored 33 points off 30 turnovers and held a 47-28 rebounding advantage.

The Eagles led 39-12 at halftime before scoring 34 points in the third quarter.

The NAIA Lions from Portland played the game as an exhibition.
