Valley Fire to mark 75 years on the job

The Spokane Valley Fire Department is celebrating more than 75 years of service with an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the training center at 2411 N. Pioneer Lane.

Firefighters will conduct live demonstrations between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. including the use of “jaws of life” to get a person out of a smashed car, CPR demonstration, what to do about a cooking fire and there will be a visit by Mako, the retired arson dog.

The event also features many children’s activities and demonstrations of fire equipment, as well as free hot dogs.
