Small school football roundup: Chandler’s 3 TDs pace Pacific Lutheran over Willamette

Cole Chandler scored three touchdowns – two on the ground and one through the air – powering Pacific Lutheran (3-1, 2-0) over Willamette (2-3, 1-1) 30-10 on Saturday in Salem, Oregon, keeping the Lutes undefeated in Northwest Conference play.

Chandler rushed 12 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns as the Lutes racked up 225 of their 338 total yards on the ground. Marc Gallant rushed for 80 yards on 14 attempts, while Darrin Hardgrove finished with 67 yards on 12 attempts.

Travis McMillion got the Lutes on the board just 56 seconds into the game, returning an interception 32 yards to the end zone for an early 7-0 edge.

Jon Schaub was 13 of 24 for 86 passing yards while splitting time with Chandler.

Carroll 28, College of Idaho 25: Dylan Green rushed for three touchdowns, carried 25 times for 113 yards and Carroll (2-3, 2-3) beat College of Idaho (2-4, 1-4) in Caldwell, Idaho.

Green’s 1-yard touchdown plunge at the start of the fourth quarter gave Carroll a 28-17 lead. The Coyotes scored on a 30-yard pass from Broch Cliff to Marcus Lenhardt with 1:05 to go and they made the 2-point conversion to make it a three-point game.

Connor Fohr recovered the onside kick though, and Carroll killed the remaining clock. Fohn caught a first-quarter, 34-yard touchdown pass from JT Linder, who finished 15 of 24 for 236 yards. Fohn had seven catches for 92 yards.

Lenhardt had 11 catches for 161 yards and broke C of I’s career receptions mark of 109 receptions, set by R.C. Owens (1952-55).

Central Washington 42, Humboldt State 17: Justin Lane went 26 of 38 for 330 yards with three touchdown passes and visiting Central Washington (4-2, 3-1) came from 10 points down to beat Humboldt State (3-3, 1-3) in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game in Arcata, California.

Jesse Zalk caught nine passes for 171 yards and a touchdown, while Justin Peterson had two scoring grabs and five catches for 78 yards.

Central was down 17-7 at intermission before turning it on for five unanswered touchdowns in the second half, including Zalk’s 49-yard touchdown reception.
