Jurassic Quest promises dino-mite adventure

Dinosaurs will take over the Spokane Convention Center this weekend.

Jurassic Quest will bring more than 50 replica dinosaurs to town to create a museumlike display of scenes from the Jurassic period, said Chris Arnold, an advanced planner for the show.

Some of the dinosaurs are animatronic, “they’ll move up and down, roar,” Arnold said.

Those moving dinosaurs include what Arnold said is the show’s most popular attraction: a baby. It’ll be held by a trainer during 30-minute playtimes. Another is an adolescent who will walk around in a gated area. Both come out several times during the day.

Other dinosaurs can be ridden or climbed on, or posed with for pictures.

Families visiting Jurassic Quest can take a tour during which guides will give information about the animals.

And kids can dig for fossils, using brushes similar to what a paleontologist would use.

A general ticket gives access to the exhibit, tour, Dino Theater, science stations, crafts and coloring. Extra attractions, such as the dinosaur rides, scooters, inflatables and fossil digs, cost $5 each. A Kids VIP ticket gives unlimited access to those activities.

Arnold said families typically spend four hours at the exhibit, and “cameras definitely are permitted.”
