Rains, wind kick off stormy few days in the Northwest

Associated Press

SEATTLE – Rain and damaging winds are expected across western Washington and Oregon Thursday through to Saturday.

The moderate-to-heavy rains Thursday kick off a stormy period – with a lull predicted Friday before the weather intensifies again Saturday. Later Thursday gusts of up to 65 mph are predicted along the coasts.

The Seattle and Puget Sound region are also expected to be hit with high gusts by early Friday morning.

A marine warning issued by the National Weather Service said waters between Cape Shoalwater, Washington, and Florence, Oregon, could have “life threatening seas and strong winds increasingly likely later this week.”
