Bonner County woman arrested in boyfriend’s death

From staff reports

A Bonner County woman was arrested Saturday after deputies found her boyfriend dead in their home.

Linda C. Provo-Buxton, 54, drove to the Bonner County Jail Saturday night to turn herself in for an undisclosed crime, the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. She apparently had second thoughts and left the jail parking lot before speaking to a deputy, the release said.

Deputies suspected the issue may have been related to an ongoing domestic dispute between Provo-Buxton and her boyfriend, the release said. They responded a home in the 1400 block of West Spring Creek Road in Hope, Idaho, where they found 57-year-old Jeffrey L. Newton dead from a head injury.

Deputies arrested Provo-Buxton in the Ponderay area early Sunday on suspicion of second-degree murder. She is being held in jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
