Allonzo Trier’s status at Arizona remains uncertain

SAN FRANCISCO – When Arizona coach Sean Miller sat down at the podium beside key returner Kadeem Allen, he made a point of saying “I wouldn’t want to be here at Media Day with anyone else other than Kadeem.”

Which of course begs the question: Then why wasn’t he your first choice?

Miller was originally going to bring sophomore Allonzo Trier, the team’s returning leading scorer. But recently questions have swirled about Trier’s eligibility to play the upcoming season and Miller has refused to clarify his status.

“I’m not gonna comment on that right now,” was all the coach would say in response.

Though the reasons why the Wildcats may be without one of their best players this season are being kept a mystery, it does not appear that Trier has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff.

“He’s added to his game,” Miller said during the Pac-12 Networks media day show. “I hope he’s going to be one of the stories of why you do come back (to college).”
