Shooting in Spokane apartment sends woman to hospital

A Spokane woman was shot in the torso Sunday morning and hospitalized with a life-threatening injury, the Spokane Police Department said.

The shooting happened just before 11 a.m. in an apartment at 2700 E. South Riverton Ave. Officers found the woman, who is in her early 40s, on the ground with the gunshot wound. She was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to the hospital.

A man inside the residence at the time was interviewed by detectives and released. The investigation is ongoing and no one was charged as of Sunday evening.
