Extended Maryland coach Mark Turgeon has received a four-year extension on his contract, which now runs through the 2022-23 season. Turgeon enters his sixth season at the school with a 114-59 record. The Terrapins have reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two years, including a berth in the Sweet 16 last season. Turgeon was Big Ten coach of the year in 2014-15 after leading Maryland to a school-record 26 regular-season wins.

Died Longtime horseman and breeder Dolphus Morrison has died. He was 82. Morrison was involved in thoroughbred racing for more than three decades when he and trainer Hal Wiggins struck gold with Rachel Alexandra in 2009. The champion filly, named after a granddaughter of Morrison’s, won the Preakness that year and became the face of his breeding program.

Replaced USA Gymnastics is making a change at the top of its men’s national team program following a second straight fifth-place showing in the Olympics. USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny announced Thursday that national team coordinator Kevin Mazeika’s contract won’t be renewed. Penny said the organization will hire a “hire performance director” that will focus on “sustained international success.”

Accused The latest lawsuit accusing a former USA Gymnastics doctor of sexually abusing a longtime member of the U.S. women’s national team is the first to name renowned husband-and-wife coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi, alleging they turned a blind eye to molestations. The lawsuit does not provide specifics about what the Karolyis were allegedly told about the abuse, just that they knew about it and did nothing to stop it.

Wounded A left knee injury could Bernard Langer to withdraw from the PowerShares QQQ Championship, the inaugural Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs event. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to play tomorrow, but I’ll make that call at noon when my tee time is,” Langer said. “For right now, I’ve been getting treatment and trying to stay off my knee.”

No. 12 Florida State will be without wide receiver Jesus “Bobo” Wilson on Saturday against third-ranked Clemson. Wilson injured his right foot during the first half of the Seminoles’ win over Wake Forest on Oct. 15. Coach Jimbo Fisher said Thursday that Wilson had not practiced all week. Wilson is second on the team in receiving with 30 receptions for 390 yards.
