The Dirt: DoubleTree plans $1.3 million hotel renovation

DoubleTree By Hilton Spokane City Center is planning a $1.3 million project for the downtown property.

The hotel, at 322 N. Spokane Falls Blvd., will update 375 guest bathrooms. Workers will gut those spaces to add new fixtures, painting, tile and trim.

The DoubleTree finished another project this fall for keyless room entry. The system enables customers to use a smartphone for self check-in and room entry.

Contractor Case & Associates will start working on the bathrooms on the top six floors this week and is expected to finish them in January. Remaining bathrooms will be updated a year from now. The main guestroom areas were updated a few years ago.

Young People’s clinic sale approved

A building formerly occupied by Valley Young People’s Clinic has sold for $365,000.

The 4,500-square-foot structure, located at 13607 E. Sprague Ave., sold to Chatwin Smith Holdings LLC, of Liberty Lake.

Robert Gilles, of G.K. Hansen Real Estate, represented the seller. Gene Arger, of G. Arger Real Estate, assisted the buyers, who will occupy a majority of the building.

The buyers will do property renovations and plan to lease 1,200 square feet of space to a tenant.

Women’s apparel store to open

An apparel store is scheduled to open Monday in Spokane Valley’s Opportunity Center.

Retailer 19Ninety Apparel and More, which sells new clothing for women, will occupy the space at 12109 E. Sprague Ave. Another section of the store will offer merchandise and services of West Coast Screen Printing and Embroidery.

Owners Tony and Christina Strand and Nick Garcia leased the 4,200-square-foot space. Brokers were Kaitlin Caudle, of Black Commercial, and Steve Jones, of Windermere Valley Chrone Investments.

Auto service center set for Liberty Lake

A 5,200-square-foot automotive service center is under construction in Liberty Lake for Christian Brothers Automotive. The site is at 23819 E. Appleway Ave.

Opening its first store in 1982, Christian Brothers began franchising in 1996. It has more than 150 auto repair franchise locations in the U.S., according to a company website.

Couple purchase Melting Pot eatery

Former longtime managers of The Melting Pot in downtown Spokane recently became the restaurant’s new owners.

Kim and Hollis Silva signed a franchise agreement for the property, under a company program that offers financing to managers interested in ownership.
