A Spokane man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving in a two-car crash on Interstate 90 that left him and six others injured early Sunday morning.
Ethan R. Belcourt, 19, was driving a 1991 Subaru Legacy westbound on I-90 in Spokane about 12:30 a.m. when he changed lanes and struck a 2000 Chevrolet Metro driven by Victoria S. Thompson, 36, of Spokane Valley, the Washington State Patrol said.
Belcourt’s car rolled and came to rest blocking one lane of the freeway. He and four passengers were injured. They were Savannah J. Belcourt, 19, of Spokane; Tyler L. Brayton, 18, of Spokane; and two boys, ages 15 and 16, who were not named by the WSP. Ethan and Savannah Belcourt were not wearing seat belts, investigators said.
Thompson and her passenger, Shannon M. Galena, 31, of Spokane, were wearing seat belts and also were injured.
All seven people were taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Belcourt faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, obstruction and driving without a valid license, the WSP said.
