Children wounded in hunting accident near Sweet Home, Oregon

Associated Press

PORTLAND – Authorities say children have been wounded in a hunting accident east of Sweet Home, Oregon.

Capt. Kevin Guilford of the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said a hunter called 9-1-1 Monday to report he accidentally discharged his firearm inside a vehicle, and more than one juvenile was hit.

The victims were transported to hospitals by ambulance, and one with a serious leg injury was transferred to a Portland hospital.

Guilford says few details are available, including how many children were injured or if they are related to the hunter.

Sweet Home is about 35 miles east of Corvallis.
