Trump doesn’t ‘tell it like it is’

The continued fantasies of Trumpists continue. Beverly Robertson (“Trump better than Clinton,” Sept. 1) starts her letter with “Donald Trump tells it like it is.” That’s Orwellian language.

Politifact has checked more than 100 Trump and Clinton’s statements each. For Trump, 13 percent of checked claims were “True” or “Mostly True.” For Clinton, 51 percent were “True” or “Mostly True.” Add in “Half True,” and it’s 73 percent for Hillary and 29 percent for Donald. It’s why Politifact awarded his campaign misstatements “Lie of the Year” for 2015.

Yet he’s the one “telling it like it is”? All politicians lie, but the difference between the two candidates is clear. Trump is a self-aggrandizing man who lies about what he discussed with the president of Mexico, says one thing while there and a completely different thing only hours later in Arizona.

Lying about lying demonstrates what’s wrong with the system.
