Pakootas best for vets

For anyone who cares about health care, Joe Pakootas is a much better candidate than Cathy McMorris Rodgers. McMorris Rodgers opposes Obamacare and she supports privatizing the VA health-care system, which would pit veterans against stockholders.

Many older veterans were drafted. They were unwilling conscripts in the Vietnam War and other conflicts during that era. Some of them suffer from the ongoing effects of battle injuries, PTSD and Agent Orange exposure. Many of those who weren’t drafted — who signed up during the Vietnam War or for the all-volunteer army after the draft ended — suffer from the same health issues. Some of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan benefited from health care that saved more lives but left them with horrific injuries.

Veterans deserve the best care that we can give them. They should not be pitted against stockholders whose primary concern is the bottom line.

Joe Pakootas is opposed to privatization. He favors giving veterans the best care available. Veterans throughout the state depend on the VA health care system. Pakootas is a better choice for veterans in the 5th District, and well beyond its boundaries.
