Liberty Lake Police Blotter: Man shops at car dealership for free tires at midnight

Liberty Lake police recently arrested a man doing some unorthodox tire shopping at a business in the 21000 block of East George Gee Avenue.

The man was spotted wandering around outside the business at midnight on Sept. 14. He reportedly told officers that he was looking for tires for his son’s vehicle because “they were going to throw them out anyway,” said Police Chief Brian Asmus.

A little checking determined that the license plates on the man’s Kia belonged to a Subaru Legacy. While checking the vehicle’s VIN number, an officer noticed a set of brass knuckles inside the car, Asmus said. There also appeared to be stolen property inside.

The car was towed pending a search warrant and the man was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
