Shannon Frucci’s goal leads East Valley past Cheney for key GNL soccer victory

Shannon Frucci beat Cheney’s defense in the 68th minute and found the back of the net, pushing visiting East Valley past previously unbeaten Cheney 1-0 on Thursday night in a Great Northern League soccer match between league co-leaders.

Kari Bromley had five saves and recorded a shutout in the win for EV (5-2, 4-0) while Nicole Rowley made seven saves for Cheney (7-1, 3-1).

Volleyball

Lucy Gao had 31 assists as Pullman survived a rough first set to cruise past host West Valley for a 11-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-14 Great Northern League victory, handing the Eagles (4-2, 4-1) their first league loss of the year.

The Greyhounds (5-2, 3-1) got a match-high 15 kills from junior Kelsey Nestergard while Jaylynn Buehler provided a team-high 26 assists for WV.
