Use bicycle bells

My family and I are avid cyclists. We use the Centennial Trail daily, either by bike or walking the dog. Every day we run into the same issue. Other cyclists don’t communicate as they pass us. They go whizzing by at high speeds without a word and scare the heck out of us. Do they not understand that we can’t hear them approaching? They have no idea what the person in front of them is going to do.

There are all types of people that use the trail. From the very young to the very old. Pass single file, and please stop using the trail as your personal training ground. There is a speed limit for a reason. Cyclists must buy a bike bell or use their voice loudly to warn others that they are intending to pass.

Everyone in my family has bells on their bikes. We use them constantly. Whenever we approach a person, even if they are on the side of the trail, we ring our bells. Those that we pass are always thankful. Use your bells to help keep our trails safe.
