Father, 2 girls found dead after shooting near Portland

Associated Press

PORTLAND – Police say an Oregon man died in an exchange of gunfire with police after killing his daughters.

Gresham police Sgt. John Rasmussen says the incident began early Wednesday as a domestic violence call. A Portland woman said her suicidal husband was missing and so were their daughters – ages 8 and 11.

Rasmussen say a police officer spotted the man’s SUV in parking lot in Gresham, a city east of Portland.

Rasmussen said the officer got out of his patrol car and that’s when shots were fired.

Officers found the girls dead inside the SUV.

Investigators have yet to release the cause of death for the man or his daughters.
