The Seattle Mariners activated reliever Tony Zych from the disabled list to bolster the struggling bullpen and optioned LHP Dillon Overton to AAA Tacoma to make room on the roster.

Zych, the hard throwing righty, will be available for Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Zych, 26, made one official rehab appearance with Tacoma, allowing three runs on three hits, including a home run, while striking out two in one inning on April 9 at Sacramento. He also appeared in a suspended game on April 7 at Sacramento, allowing two hits and striking out one in 1/3 innings pitched.

Zych went 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA (5 ER, 13 2/3 IP) with 21 strikeouts in 12 outings with the Mariners last season.

Overton, 25, made two relief appearances with the Mariners, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

In other news: The Mariners traded left-handed pitcher Paul Fry to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Baltimore’s International Signing Slot No. 105.

Fry, 24, made just one appearance with AAA Tacoma before being designated for assignment on April 11. He was added to the 40-man roster on Nov. 18, 2016. In five minor league seasons, he is 13-14 with a 2.89 ERA (76 earned runs, 237 innings) with 290 strikeouts in 151 games, including six starts.
