Trump’s bait and switch

If you have ever been played, you feel foolish first and angry second. Donald Trump has a disapproval rating of 53.6 percent. Astoundingly there are 39.8 percent who approve.

Donald Trump claimed, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.” Figuratively speaking, the shooting has begun, with his support for the failed Republican effort to overturn the ACA, depriving 24 million Americans health insurance, and with his assault on the environment in defunding the EPA.

His proposed budget would be a massive transfer of wealth from the poor and working class to the wealthy. He spoke about freeing the earth of the miseries of disease. His budget proposal slashes 20 percent of the funding for the National Institutes of Health, which supports research into disease and treatments. He lamented the conditions in the inner cities and spoke of urban renewal. His budget cuts $2 billion from public housing and $300 million from rental assistance.

The litany from Donald Trump’s bait and switch is too long to outline. Facts matter, science matters, honesty matters and integrity matters. Hopefully, the followers of Donald Trump begin to realize the bait and switch that is taking place.
