Street sweeping season underway in Spokane Valley

From local reports

Street sweeping has begun in Spokane Valley. Crews will be clearing dirt and debris on roadways between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays through early July.

Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching and passing slow-moving sweeping vehicles. Residents are asked to remove items such as vehicles, basketball hoops and other items from the path of sweepers.

While cleaner streets are a benefit, the real purpose of sweeping is to keep stormwater draining off roadways. Standing water caused by clogged drains can cause unsafe driving surfaces, accelerate road corrosion and damage adjacent properties.
