1. “Music in Your Face” 8 p.m. Fridays through May 5, Blue Door Theatre, 815 W. Garland Ave. The BDT Players put their comedic twist on this all-improvised musical comedy. 4. Paint-a-Helmet 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, Ag Building C, 404 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley. Spokane Kiwanis Clubs - Division 46 presents the annual event. Children ages 3 to 16 can attend and receive a free white bike/recreational safety helmet that they can custom decorate at the event. Helmets will be properly fitted to each child, too. 5. Coeur d’Alene Earth Day Fair Noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Coeur d’Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave., Coeur d Alene. Kid-friendly event celebrating our Mother Earth with educational vendors, music, arts and crafts. A one-mile fun run will start the day off at noon with Mayor Steve Widmyer leading the pack. A student-led benefit concert to raise money for Cancer Care Northwest. It will feature award-winning small group ensembles and soloists who will perform both classical and popular music. 9. Author Shin Yu Pai Noon-1 p.m. Friday, North Idaho College, Meyer Health and Sciences Building Room 102, 1000 W. Garden Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Poet and artist Shin Yu Pai will present “The Written Image: Blending Poetry with the Visual Arts.” Pai will discuss the history of artist-poet collaborations and creative innovation in American literature. During the talk, she will show her work as a writer, her commissions for both art and cultural museums, and her work with painters, photographers, installation artists, composers, and video artists on collaborative work.
