Justin Booth charged in killing of Bo Kirk

Court files unsealed Friday show that Justin R. Booth has been charged in the death of William “Bo” Kirk.

Booth, a convicted felon, has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, robbery, arson and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Court documents indicate that Booth and David E. Hutto followed Kirk home and kidnapped him after they became angry about Kirk’s driving. Investigators believe they shot Kirk, burned his truck and then withdrew money from his bank account at an ATM, court documents state. Hutto was recently sentenced to life in prison for Kirk’s murder.

Kirk’s body was found near the Hayden Creek Shooting Range on Oct. 25 several days after he went missing from his job as an x-ray technician at Northwest Specialty Hospital in Post Falls on Oct. 22. His burning truck was found in the 23000 block of North Rimrock Road the night he disappeared.

Booth was arrested on Oct. 28 by the FBI on federal firearms charges. At the time he was Hutto’s roommate. Booth had been held in the Bonner County Jail on that charge but was moved to the Kootenai County Jail on Thursday.
