Spokane County Jail inmate in critical condition after suspected suicide attempt

A Spokane County Jail inmate is in critical condition at a local hospital after an apparent suicide attempt in his cell Friday, said the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was found unresponsive and not breathing in his cell around 3:15 p.m. Friday. Corrections officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating the incident. The man’s name has not been released, but the Sheriff’s Office said he was being held on several felony charges.
