United response was bad

By now everyone has seen United Airlines PR nightmare. The powers that be don’t seem to appreciate the fact phone cameras are everywhere, and that they are going to have to take responsibility for the actions of their chargers.

What the goons did to the doctor on the airplane was no surprise; gorillas will do what gorillas do. The PR damage they did will be many millions. But the surprise was that the UAL CEO didn’t initially grab the bull by the horns and stop it in its tracks. That is, hold a press conference and apologize to the doctor and to the world. Then hire a charter jet to take the doctor home to his home, and lastly discharge three or four UAL employees connected with the incident.

He can deal with the UAL labor union later. Total cost is maybe $10,000 for the charter jet, nothing for the press conference, and maybe a few thousand in back pay for the fired UAL employees.
