Driver injured in collision with semi on I-90 at Vantage Bridge

The crash of a semi loaded with hay has closed I-90 at the Vantage Bridge. (Washington State Department of Transportation)

One driver was injured after a semi truck collided with a car on Interstate 90 at the Vantage Bridge over the Columbia River. The collision blocked all lanes of the freeway in both directions, backing up traffic for miles.

A semi loaded with hay collided with a pickup, trapping the pickup’s driver in the wreck. The driver was initially thought to be seriously injured, but his injuries turned out to be minor, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver of the semi took the corner too fast, the WSP said. Westbound lanes and one eastbound lane are now open.
