Deputies looking for man who escaped on foot after high speed chase north of Spokane

Deputies are looking for a man who vanished into the woods Wednesday night after leading them on a high speed chase through north Spokane County.

Sam C. Ingram, 33, was identified as the suspect in a domestic violence incident around 7:30 p.m. A deputy spotted Ingram in the area of the 34200 block of North Newport Highway a short time later and attempted to pull Ingram over.

Deputy Ryan Truman reported over his radio that Ingram was splitting traffic and reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as he drove south on the highway. Ingram lost control while trying to turn onto Chattaroy Road and spun out, then rammed Truman’s patrol car while getting back on the road. While the car was briefly stopped, Ingram’s passenger jumped out and surrendered, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The chase continued until Ingram drove into a field in the 14400 block of East Black Road, where his car became disabled. He ran away on foot and a search by deputies, K9’s and the Air 1 helicopter failed to locate him.

Ingram is facing charges of attempting to elude police and driving with a suspended license in addition to domestic violence harassment-threats to kill. He is also wanted on two misdemeanor warrants.

Ingram’s passenger was not charged with a crime.
