Pullman-Moscow airport board hears estimated cost of new parking lot

Tribune News Service

The Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport will need approximately $420,000 to complete its new parking lot, Executive Director Tony Bean told the Airport Board on Wednesday afternoon during its regular meeting.

That figure is according to an engineer’s estimate and includes all aspects of construction. Bean said the parking lot must be paid for with cash rather than passenger facility charges, though PFCs can and will be used to fund a new baggage claim area in the terminal.

Bean estimates it will take another 10 months to collect funds for the expansion of the terminal. In other news:

M.A. DeAtley Construction Inc. won the bid for improvements to the airport’s 2017 Airfield Improvements Project in the amount of $17,581,767.41.

House Bill 1018, which will increase the allowable grant amount the Department of Transportation may provide for airport projects through the Airport Aid Grant Program from $250,000 to $750,000, passed the Washington state Legislature. Bean told the board the airport would make a request for the maximum amount.

The board accepted a recommendation that the airport participate in a state-wide disadvantaged business enterprise disparity study rather than pursuing an individual study.

Bean informed the board the airport may have to use its U.S. Fish and Wildlife Depredation Permit for lethal removal of birds from the airport premises this year. The airport can receive monthly such permits.
