Sessions wrong on pot

The consequences in the states that have legalized the sale and use of marijuana seems to be almost completely positive. Users have been decriminalized. Minors do not have direct access to the sales.

Although black market dealers will still sell to anyone with the cash. The states are receiving tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenues. Growers and retailers are making great profits and hiring many legal employees.

I am not, however, so naive to think there are no ill effects on some users or society. They do seem to be less than the abuse of alcohol or prescription drugs.

I wonder, then, why Jeff Sessions, the ultraconservative who is a defender of states’ rights, is so against the legalization movement. Why does he want to punish the states whose voters approved of the legalization?

The only people I can think of who are really upset about legalization are the ones who are losing those huge profits, organized crime. They will be the ones rejoicing if he is successful.
