More than 100 recipes from home cooks in 23 states and two countries were submitted for the National Lentil Festival’s Legendary Lentil Cook-off.
The top five will compete for a $2,000 grand prize. They are:
Areli Biggers, El Paso, Texas: Lentil Loaded Lazy Lasagna
Vivian Levine, Summerfield, Florida: Red Lentil Pumpkin Shake
Lori Freer, Ithaca, New York: Coconut Almond Sweet Potato Granola with Crispy Lentils
Susan Bickta, Kutztown, Pennsylvania: Hearty Lentil, Bacon and Barley Soup
Daljeet Singh, Coral Springs, Florida: Lentil-Cornmeal Dumplings in Lentil Broth
The cook-off is at 3 p.m. Aug. 19 on the Cooking Demo Stage in Pullman.
