Cat climbing power pole starts fire north of Ephrata

A cat up a power pole triggered an early morning fire that torched several vehicles north of Ephrata, outbuildings and a camper near an abandoned home, according to Grant County Fire District 13.

The fire, which spread to the fields surrounding the power pole, was reported about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 17400 block of Road B NW.

District 13 responded to the scene and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby residences.

According to District 13, this is the second cat-on-a-power-pole fire in the last month. They also battled a similar fire involving a squirrel several weeks ago.
