Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug to retire

Post Falls Police Chief Scott Haug (Post Falls Police Department)

Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug has announced his plans to retire, but says he will stay on the job until March 31 to finish a few projects and allow the department time to find his replacement.

Haug has been with the Post Falls Police Department for 32 years, starting as a volunteer reserve officer at the age of 19. He was also an animal safety officer and code enforcement officer before rising up the ranks. He was named chief of police in 2009.

Haug made his announcement on the department’s Facebook page Wednesday. “I cannot begin to express my appreciation for all the support this City has provided me since I started at age 19 as a volunteer,” he said. “It has been a wonderful experience, one that I will never forget.”

Post Falls Mayor Ron Jacobson released a statement praising Haug’s service with the city. “I want to thank Chief Haug for his 32 years of service to the people of Post Falls and the men and women of the police department,” Jacobson said. “Under Chief Haug’s leadership the PFPD is recognized as a leader in innovation and technology.”
