Man fatally injured at construction site

Moscow-Pullman Daily News

An employee of Motley-Motley Inc. of Pullman was fatally injured Thursday at a city of Moscow construction site.

The man, whose name has not been released, was transported to Gritman Medical Center with serious injuries after a tractor with a rolling pin attached to its front tipped over and trapped him beneath it. He was compacting a line when the accident occurred, Moscow Police Chief James Fry said.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. at the City Booster Station Project site near the Moscow Water Tower Park, west of the Troy Highway.

Initial reports from the scene indicate the man, who was in his early 20s, was not breathing and had serious injuries when emergency personnel arrived. Moscow Volunteer Fire Department, EMS and the Moscow Police Department all responded.

Fire Chief Brian Nickerson of the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department said other workers at the site were able to remove the man from under the tractor before first responders arrived. When EMS arrived on scene they preformed CPR and other life saving efforts, Nickerson said.

The man reportedly had a pulse when he was transported to Gritman but was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

One other man was transported to Gritman for minor injuries.

Motley-Motley Inc. was subcontracted to do the construction work for the City Booster Station Project, which also includes two other locations along White and Taylor Avenues, according to a news release from Moscow.
