Universal Athletic Service, a supplier of uniforms and sports equipment, opens Spokane Valley office

Universal Athletic Service, a sporting goods company headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, has opened a Spokane Valley sales office.

The office will focus on sales of uniforms and equipment to high schools, colleges and recreational and corporate sports leagues in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. The office is in the Spokane Business and Industrial Park at 3808 N. Sullivan Road.

Steve Leifer is the regional manager and salesman.

All of the six Spokane Valley employees previously worked at Kimmel Athletic Supply, of Spokane, which sold to Texas-based BSN last spring.

Kimmel and Universal Athletic Service belonged to the same buying group and had sales meetings together in the past, Leifer said. Universal wanted to expand into Idaho and Washington, so he and other former Kimmel employees joined the company, he said.

Universal has 15 locations in 12 states, 10 retail stores, five sales offices and about 275 employees.
