McCain’s vote too pat
Doesn’t Sen. McCain’s no vote on Obamacare repeal feel a bit too pat? The vote gave his Republican buddies cover to cast another inconsequential show vote, cemented his “maverick” rep and vexed the president. It could also provide a creditable way for the GOP to escape blame for keeping in place the economy stagnating, dependency encouraging, festering back-sided boil “law of the land” that is the ACA. Will it make possible the continued Republican reaping of election-win harvests sown by hapless “deplorables?”
Quadruple bonus score!
After all, had McCain’s vote gone otherwise the process would have ended up in an all-Republican conference committee, passing the button to them.
Was it chromosomal commonality that spared Sens. Murkowski and Collins from the frothing, roiling, wrath rained down on McCain? Ire he almost seemed to relish. Have McCain’s circumstances liberated him, making the spectacle’s unfolding possible? Raptly was he watched as he courageously flew back to Washington, went incommunicado, machinated the final poll position and finally emerged to cast the burying blow by gesticulating the stoic thumbs down of a reluctant emperor.
Shakespeare’s got nothing on these guys.
A win-win for everybody- except… well… you know who.
