Reader photo: Looking for warmth

A female mallard tries to stay warm in the Spokane River in early December. The ducks were close to shore and looked “like they were trying to stay warm” said photographer Mike Forster.

“(I’m) still surprised at the beautiful colors of the male and female this time of year,” he said.
