Idaho sees slight gain in four-year high school graduation rates

Idaho’s four-year high school graduation rate increased slightly to 79.5 percent in 2015-16, according to data released by the Department of Education on Tuesday.

In 2014-15 the state’s overall graduation rate was 78.9 percent.

“This is proof that we are seeing a positive trend in our graduation rate under the four-year calculation, and it shows the hard work that is being done at the local level to emphasize the importance of achieving a high school diploma,” Superintendent Sherri Ybarra said in a news release.

Coeur d’Alene High School’s graduation rate was 90.25 percent, while Lake City High School was slightly higher at 90.94 percent. Venture High School, an alternative school in Coeur d’Alene, had a graduation rate of 54.5 percent.

Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy graduated 95 percent of its students.

Post Falls High School’s graduation rate was 93.4 percent while New Vision High School’s rate was 33.9 percent.

Lakeside High School in Plummer graduated 61.11 percent of its students.

Farther north, Timberlake Senior High school graduated 92.63 percent of its students, while Lakeland Senior High School graduated 92.81 percent of its students. The Mountain View Alternative High School graduated in 63.64 percent of its students.

Idaho Virtual Academy, an online school available throughout the state, graduated 48.58 percent of its students.
