EWU and many school districts, including Spokane, closed Thursday as police warn of icy roads

Police are warning motorists of extremely icy road conditions. Many local school districts have cancelled school Thursday, including Spokane Public Schools. Other districts in Spokane County closed Thursday include: Central Valley, Cheney, Deer Park, East Valley, Great Northern, Mead, Medical Lake, Nine Mile Falls, Orchard Prairie, Reardan-Edwall, Riverside and West Valley school districts. Gonzaga Prep and St. George’s School also are closed. The Freeman and Liberty school districts have two-hour delays. In Kootenai County, closed districts include Coeur d’Alene, Lakeland and Post Falls. Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University and North Idaho College are closed Thursday. Whitworth University cancelled classes through Thursday afternoon. Washington State University-Spokane has cancelled classes before 10 a.m. Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College will open at 10 a.m. Classes before that are cancelled.
