Congress needs to investigate allegations of Russian involvement in the 2016 elections, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers said Thursday.

In a statement released by her spokeswoman, the Spokane Republican said she supports efforts by House and Senate intelligence committees to investigate the matter.

“These efforts should be conducted in a non-partisan manner and not used to undermine the confidence in the electoral system or question the results of the election,” she said.

The Eastern Washington congresswoman was among members of the state’s delegation asked about the need for some kind of investigation into contacts between Russia and former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, both Democrats, are also calling for an investigation in the wake of Flynn’s resignation.
