Highway 2 near Bear Lake back open after serious crash
A serious crash closed both directions of Highway 2 near Bear Lake for several hours Friday afternoon.
A Dodge Caravan driven by 66-year-old Timothy P. Koenig of Elk was going southbound when it crossed the center line on a curve and hit a northbound Ford Fusion driven by 71-year-old Ronnie G. Bowlan of Newport, according to the Washington State Patrol. The two cars hit head-on in the northbound lane.
Koenig, Bowlan and Bowlan’s passenger, 76-year-old Jim Bowlan, were all taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment.
Koenig was cited for negligent driving, according to WSP.
