Eagles edged in OT by Montana State

Peyton Ferris scored 30 points and Montana State edged visiting Eastern Washington 88-83 in overtime on Thursday in Big Sky play in Bozeman.

The Eagles (6-7, 1-1) had no answer for Ferris. The senior guard went 11 of 17 from the field and 8 of 10 from the line with nine rebounds and three assists. Riley Nordgaard added 22 points, hitting 13 of 14 free throw attempts, for Montana State (9-4, 2-1).

Eastern placed four in double figures, led by Delaney Hodgins, who extended her consecutive double-digit streak to 30 games, with 19 points. Violet Kapri Morrow scored 18 points, Tisha Phillips had 17 and Ashli Payne added 13.

Hodgins’ jumper with 2:05 left in OT made it 78-77, but Hannah Caudill hit a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left to push the lead to six.

Eastern continues its road trip in Missoula against Montana on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Idaho 86, Montana 59: Taylor Pierce scored 22 points to help the visiting Vandals (6-7, 1-1) cruise past the Grizzlies (3-11, 0-3).

Pierce went 8 of 12 from the field, with four 3-pointers, and 2 of 3 at the line. Idaho shot over 53 percent and went 14 of 34 (41.2 percent) from beyond the arc.

Mikayla Ferenz scored 13 points and Geraldine McCorkell added 12.

Hailey Nicholson paced Montana with 17 points and Taylor Goligoski added 15.

Idaho never trailed. It raced out to an 11-4 lead and led 20-8 after the first quarter. A 31-point third quarter sealed the win.

The Vandals travel to Montana State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
