Will miss Michelle Obama

Regarding Leonard Pitts’ recent column about Michelle Obama, I want him to know this aging white man does not agree with the racist rednecks who have disparaged her in any way. I, too, find her physically attractive. But more than that, her beauty shines in her intelligence and her humanity. She cares about kids, about veterans, about America. On top of it all, she’s fun (carpool karaoke, anyone? The girl’s got dance moves, too, doesn’t she?).

If she ran for office, I’d vote for her in a heartbeat. With her husband, she has brought class and dignity to the highest office in the land, and I am really going to miss them.

Like the Obamas, Leonard Pitts represents reason and humanity in a divided nation that desperately needs both. I know he’s tired of this battle, but he should keep writing his columns. I’ve enjoyed his commentary for years and look forward to it every week. We all have to keep hammering away at the injustice and inequity in our nation. And when we get tired, we’ll stop and rest and put on a little Mahalia Jackson to soothe our souls.
