A second lawsuit has been filed against the companies that built and maintained the airplane that crashed near Felts Field in 2015.

Similar to the lawsuit filed by the wife of the passenger in the crash in December, the new suit also alleges that improperly installed aileron control cables contributed to the crash. And, aviation regulations require well-marked and distinctive cables, instead of the plane’s identical bolts, which allowed them to be installed backward without anyone noticing, the lawsuit states.

Richard Runyon, whose wife is plaintiff in the suit filed Jan. 17, was piloting a Piper PA-46 350P on a post-inspection test flight on May 7, 2015, when the plane veered out of control and crashed in the Spokane River.

The widow of passenger Lyndon Amestoy filed the December lawsuit. Both men were killed in the crash.
