Help pedestrians, too

The city has worked hard to clean streets. However, I am wondering about sidewalks and intersections where people need to cross.

If a person walks either to stores or uses STA, he crosses streets and boards and departs from buses. Maybe all Spokane business managers with stores along the main streets – Division, Sprague, Nevada, etc. – should go out and walk on the sidewalks that are attached to their parking lots and stores. Only if you are part mountain goat can you get around without threat of breaking your neck. Just ask the STA drivers.

If you manage a business or own a home, please shovel snow off the sidewalks. It is hard to negotiate walking if you have a cane, walker, wheelchair or just have problems walking. Please be responsible and think of everyone in this weather. Next time you see someone walking in the street, look at the condition of the sidewalks.

And is it too difficult to wait for pedestrians crossing streets to get out of snow, rain, wind and frigid weather while waiting in a warm, dry car? Everyone must deal with the snow.
