The Spokane Empire signed former Eastern Washington offensive lineman Cassidy Curtis to their 2017 IFL roster on Thursday.

Curtis (6-foot-6, 310) joins the Empire for his rookie IFL season in 2017. During his collegiate career at Eastern, Cassidy saw action in 42 games between 2012-15 as he helped the Eagles to three-straight Big Sky Titles and FCS Playoff appearances (2012-2014).

In 2013, Cassidy earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors while EWU went on to set Big Sky and school records in points (592), touchdowns (83), and yards on offense (8,002).

“Cassidy Curtis is a very well coached player with the tough guy attitude we look for in offensive lineman,” said Empire head coach Adam Shackleford. “He has the ability to dominate his opponents with technique and attitude. Being a local player from our favorite university in Cheney is a plus.”

Cassidy played his prep career at Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado where he earned honorable mention 5A All-State and first team All-Creek Conference honors.

Additional Transactions (1/24/17): The Empire signed wide receiver Lamont Bryant (WR, 6-6, 230, Morgan State) and released D.J. Yendrey (DL, 6-3, 275, TCU). James Atoe (OL, 6-7, 340, Washington) was moved to the Transfer Exempt list (AFL-WAS). Dave Lefotu (OL, 6-2, 325, Hawaii) was moved to the Transfer Exempt list (AFL-TBY).
