Athol Man Drowns in Lake Pend Oreille

An Athol man drowned Saturday night after falling off the dock of a float home in Bayview, Idaho.

Jarrod Tanner, 41, was seen falling from the dock in Scenic Bay on Lake Pend Oreille, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. When he didn’t resurface and witnesses couldn’t locate him, they called 911 at 11:10 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office dive rescue team arrived and located Tanner in about 30 feet of water about 23 minutes after the 911 call was received.

EMTs from the Timberlake Fire and Northern Lakes Fire departments began resuscitation efforts, but Tanner could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Foul play is not suspected, deputies said.
